MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC

We’ve partnered with heat pump manufacturer, Mitsubishi Electric, to decarbonise heating across Chester Zoo as part of our commitment to achieving net-zero emissions. At a press event with TV presenter George Clarke, we unveiled how Mitsubishi Electric will help us provide advanced heating, cooling, and ventilation solutions tailored to our diverse needs.

Key projects include installing air source heat pumps in our new conference venue and rhino habitat, demonstrating the versatility of Mitsubishi Electric’s technology in challenging environments. This partnership is a crucial step in our mission to prevent extinction and reduce our carbon footprint.

Deforestation is the second leading cause of climate change, responsible for 11% of global greenhouse gas emissions. At Chester Zoo, our mission is to address these critical conservation challenges through transformative sector-wide initiatives. By partnering with industry leaders like Asda and collaborating with various NGOs, we develop practical and measurable strategies to enhance sustainability standards concerning imported deforestation.

Our partnership with Asda aims to promote reforestation and enhance habitat connectivity. We work closely with smallholders and plantation companies to establish biodiversity corridors and engage with local communities to create sustainable, long-term solutions for orangutan conservation.
